Positive Primary Prevention in Practice
Saturday 12th October 15.00 – 16.30
Primary Prevention in Practice
A Pedagogical Presentation by Slim Lidén.
This section will be most varied. Apart from a “normal” presentation of primary prevention, a sad life story, a happy life story, stepping stones to narcotic drug abuse, youth envolvement and a successful method that could be used anywhere, you will encounter good humour and seriousness, video clips and interactivity.
You will also meet Estonian kids who have made smart choices. Teacher Anu Ukkivi from Kuusalu school will bring a few pupils and they will tell you about their prevention and activities.
Slim Lidén is the founder and secretary-general of NGO SMART, a network for all primary prevention operators, who work with children and adolescents in order to help them say no to all drugs, with help of positive reinforcement and individual contracts.
The main aim with (NGO) SMART´s work is to prevent permanently or delay the onset of tobacco, alcohol and illicit drugs. The target group is youth from 10 to 16 years of age. SMART represents 37000 young members in Sweden. The method is spreading and has so far reached Finland, Norway, Russia, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Belarus, Denmark and India. (In the Nordic countries in a large scale, in the others in a very small scale.)
Lidén was the initiator of the European Primary Prevention Conference, EPPC, here in Tallinn 2013 and responsible for its programme. 15 countries were represented. www.eppc.se

Lidén has given more than 1500 appreciated pedagogical presentations on tobacco, alcohol and other drugs for large groups of pupils at schools, parents or conferences. His programmes are varied and vivid.
